Our Commitment to Science

At Brain Zone, scientific integrity isn't a marketing tagline—it's our foundation. Here's how we hold ourselves accountable to the science.

How We Ensure Quality

Every piece of content we publish goes through a rigorous process designed to maintain accuracy and trustworthiness:

  • Research-First Approach: We start with the science, not with the headline we want to write. Our content is built on peer-reviewed research from reputable journals and institutions.
  • Expert Review: Our content is reviewed for accuracy before publication. We consult with experts in cognitive science and related fields to ensure we're representing the research correctly.
  • Clear Sourcing: We cite our sources so you can verify claims and explore the original research yourself. No vague appeals to “studies show” without specifics.
  • Honest Uncertainty: When the science is unclear or contested, we say so. We distinguish between what's well-established, what's emerging, and what's still speculative.

What We Commit To

These aren't aspirational goals—they're standards we hold ourselves to:

  • A minimum of three peer-reviewed citations for any article making health-related claims
  • Clear labeling of evidence as “established,” “emerging,” or “preliminary” so you know how confident to be
  • Regular content reviews and updates as new research emerges—the science evolves, and our content evolves with it
  • Strict avoidance of claims about preventing, treating, or curing any medical condition
  • Links to original research whenever possible, so you can read the source material yourself

What We Won't Do

We believe knowing what we won't do is just as important as knowing what we will:

  • Make unsupported claims: We won't tell you something will “boost your IQ” or “prevent dementia” unless the research actually supports it.
  • Promise results we can't deliver: Brain training can be beneficial, but it's not magic. We'll be honest about what realistic expectations look like.
  • Use fear tactics: We won't try to scare you into engagement with alarming headlines about cognitive decline. Fear-based marketing might work, but it's not something we're willing to do.
  • Ignore inconvenient research: If a study contradicts a popular belief—even one we've previously shared—we'll report it honestly and update our content accordingly.

Our Editorial Standards

We've designed our content to be both scientifically accurate and genuinely accessible:

  • Clear language: We write at an 8th-grade reading level because brain science shouldn't require a PhD to understand. Complex concepts are explained in plain terms.
  • Balanced perspectives: When experts disagree, we present multiple viewpoints fairly rather than picking the one that makes the best story.
  • Practical takeaways: We focus on actionable information. Understanding how memory works is interesting, but we'll also tell you what you can actually do with that knowledge.
  • Regular updates: Our content is reviewed annually at minimum, and more frequently when significant new research emerges.

Hold Us Accountable

We mean it when we say we want to be trustworthy. If you find an error in our content, encounter a claim that seems unsupported, or have questions about our sources, we want to hear from you.

Contact us with your feedback. We read every message and take accuracy concerns seriously. If we've gotten something wrong, we'll correct it—and thank you for helping us improve.
